The American Sociological Association recently released a new book, Sociology Degree: The History of How It’s Done, that chronicles how the sociological field has evolved from its beginnings in 17th century England.
The new book chronicles the history of sociology from its origins as a discipline of knowledge, through its current focus on the social and economic issues that affect the lives of people across the globe.
The book includes essays, videos and photographs from the field.
It was published on Oct. 3.
It is part of the Sociology Series, which covers topics in the sociology field that are of particular interest to people.
The volume is available on Amazon and the library of Congress.
“What’s striking is how rapidly the sociologists have moved from their first-generation beginnings as an education of history to a broad range of social sciences,” said James L. Breen, Ph.
D., the co-author of the book and a professor of sociology at the University of California, Los Angeles.
“For example, from its earliest beginnings, sociology was focused on the history and society of the nation, and its most prominent practitioners were British scholars like John Locke, William Hogarth and William Morris.”
Sociology has become the focus of a number of social justice issues and controversies.
In October 2017, the Department of Education announced the elimination of the term “sociological” from its list of standards for schools.
However, some schools and schools that were previously on the list, like the American Sociologists Association, remain on it.
“We’re in a new age where a lot of us want to learn more about the world, and how the world actually works,” Breen said.
He added that the new book is “an important step forward.”
Sociologists and social justice advocates were quick to respond to the new publication, calling it a “powerful document.”
“A new book from the best-selling author of Black Male Sociology, James Breen is the perfect companion to his groundbreaking new book on sociology,” said Terence Stansfield, a professor and president of the Association for Black Sociology and a co-editor of the forthcoming book Black Male Socioeconomic Analysis.
“The new book makes clear that the historical, social and political context in which sociology is practiced has profoundly changed over time,” Stansfields said in a statement.
